Welcome to C'est Chouette~

Please enjoy your shopping experience.

There it was! A box of needlepoints stashed under a table at my favorite flea market. I was drawn to the memories of an earlier time. I just couldn’t resist, as I touched each needlepoint, some showing the ravages of time, I couldn't help but feel the wool, the fine stitches, and the strength of the needlepoint canvas.Even more exciting was the glimpse into the past, someone's past.  The colors, faded to a beautiful patina that only comes with time and love, were memorizing.  I was overcome with emotions that were unfamiliar to me.  What was I feeling?  It was the realization that someone's dear mother had stitched each beautiful stitch.  These beautiful tapestries were discarded and purposeless.  I knew, right then, that these time-worn treasures needed a breath of new life. Something this rich in history and beauty belonged in someone's home, creating history anew. Searching for and rescuing these beautiful needlepoints became my passion.

Vintage Needlepoint Tuffets and pillows using silk, tassels

A friend refers to my business as the

“Needlepoint Rescue Society.”

She may be correct.

Hi, I am Sharon Wollman, owner and designer at C'est Chouette~the Vintage Needlepoint Boutique

Hi, I am Sharon Wollman, owner and designer of C’est Chouette, the Vintage Needlepoint Pillow Boutique. Thank you for allowing me to tell the story of my tuffets.

At C'est Chouette, I rescue vintage needlepoints, restore and reclaim their beauty and then create unique one-of-a-kind pillows. Each needlepoint must have a story to tell. I just wish I knew that story. Sometimes I am lucky enough to find a note or a date, but most of the stories are long lost.  I can only imagine the hours upon hours of work that went into each needlepoint, and am in awe of the time honored tradition of learning to stitch at Grandmother's knee. Many of the needlepoints have been well loved and used for years; others are literally rescued from dust bins or ‘junk’ boxes. No matter where the needlepoints are found, I am very appreciative, always, that some one cared enough to save these tiny pieces of the past. Out of respect for the vintage colors, I search for silks, tassels, and trims to perfectly accent each needlepoint, lovingly create each tuffet and  then with a happy heart, send it off to add grace and charm to a new home.

To add a bit of my own family history to my business, the name C’est Chouette comes from my daughter’s high school French studies. C’est chouette literally translates as ‘small cabbage’ but it is more commonly used to say ‘that’s cool’. My daughter thinks the round pillows look like small cabbages. I think she is very smart and the name very fitting.
